SCOTUS Ruling Blocks President Obama’s Effort to Change Immigration System
Illegal immigrants may be facing deportation after the Supreme Court’s latest decision.
FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:
In a setback to President Obama, the Supreme Court has declined to rehear a challenge to the President’s executive actions on immigration, effectively killing his plan to spare from deportation millions of immigrants in the country illegally.
The justices split 4-4 on the case in June. That ruling left in place a lower court decision that had blocked the plan, which the President announced in 2014 but never went into effect.
The President acted by executive action, and bypassed the Republican-led Congress to try to put his plan in place.
