Premier of Ontario, Canada Doug Ford joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why he believes it is vital for the U.S. and Canada to maintain a healthy trading relationship, which is why he is opposed to the new tariffs recently announced by President Trump.

“You take our energy, the oil, the 4.3 million barrels we ship down there every single day, take that off the balance sheet because you need it. I don’t want to be shipping it over to China and other places. The U.S. actually has a $56 billion surplus, and I’ll just talk regarding Ontario alone. If we were a standalone country, which I don’ recommend, we’d be the third largest trading partner in the world. to the U.S. and we’re the number one customer to 19 states, number two to 11 others. That’s just Ontario. It’s 28 states. And we’ve just had an excellent relationship. We do $500 billion Canadian in a two-way trade and it’s split equally right down the center. And, we just need to grow this and worry about the rest of the world. I always say we should create the AmCan fortress, American-Canadian fortress. We have the energy, we have the critical minerals, we have aluminum, the steel that the U.S. needs. We have high-grade nickel that 50% of what the U.S. uses on our military, aerospace, manufacturing comes from Ontario. I want to ship more critical minerals. I want ship more energy, more electricity, more fuel and then no one can touch us. We’d be the two greatest, most prosperous, safest two countries in the world.”
