RNC National Spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko joins Fox Across America With guest host Paul Gleiser to shed light on how President-elect Trump was able to successfully expand the Republican Party’s base over the course of the last decade.
“I think those on the left are actually scared to talk about it. But there are so many groups of voters that they’ve relied on, almost unfairly for decades now, thinking that they just deserve their vote every four years and don’t have to earn it. I said from day one, Donald Trump, even if he didn’t win in 2016, I said he was going to change the way people spoke to the American public and change the way that people try to garner votes. Right? To earn support, because that’s what he did. He spoke to the people in a way that a politician never had because he just wanted to earn people’s votes. And I think the Democrats finally learned that what they’ve been doing is not going to work anymore. I think social media is a big part of that. I think Donald Trump’s a big part of that. But I think in general, when you look at the losses across the board of Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, young Americans, Jewish-Americans, you can talk about this every day of the year for the next four years to see if the Democrats will learn their lesson. But the fact is relying on votes because you think that you’ve earned them many, many decades ago with policies that no longer work or really exist in a lot of places is simply not going to get you the election anymore. Donald Trump, like I said, changed the game for both sides of the aisle. But I think Democrats actually have a lot to study and a lot to learn from this last election because what they saw in a lot of counties around the country with a lot of different minority voters is something that no one expected to happen.”
