From Washington: Speakers, Spending, & the Start Of a New Congress

President-elect Donald Trump became the first Republican to clinch the popular vote in two decades. This election cycle has signaled a shift in the way Americans identify politically. Vice President Kamala Harris lost ground with Black and Hispanic voters, while Trump gained some ground in the suburbs. Will this trend remain? FOX News Decision Desk member, Daron Shaw, joined a few days after the election to help answer some of the remaining questions and help preview what Trump’s second term could look like. 

As lawmakers prepare for a second Trump Administration and the 119th Congress, the fight for Speaker of the House is weighing on everyone’s mind. With such a slim majority, lawmakers are gearing up for a multi-day fight. However, without a Speaker, Congress can’t meet in a joint session with the Senate to certify the election results on January 6th. FOX News Senior Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram discusses the possibility of a chaotic start to the new year.
