Founder and Executive Director of Power The Future Daniel Turner joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to shed light on the consequences of then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s decision to close the Indian Point nuclear plant in 2021.
“Andrew was desperate to be national profile. His father ran for president successfully. I think if you’re a Cuomo son, you either follow Chris Cuomo’s path, or you follow Andrew Cuomo’s, which was the political just like the dad, governor. He was in the cabinet. He was Clinton’s Housing and Urban Development Secretary. So Andrew is desperate to have a national profile. And the way you have a national profile as a Democrat is you’ve got to push hard core green things. In addition to hard core trans and hard core bike lanes. Green is very important. So he shut down all of your coal in New York State, all coal gone. And he shut down Indian Point nuclear, which everyone said, yes, we’re finally getting rid of that risky nuclear. You know, 90% of French electricity is nuclear. So they’re not afraid. French. So the French can do it. But it was too scary for Andrew Cuomo. And this was all done with a lot of fanfare. Congratulations, New York is leading the charge. And now studies have come out to show that New York’s emissions are going through the roof, and your electric grid is less reliable, of course. And, of course, rent payers here in New York State know how expensive electricity has gotten, but your emissions are also going up. So congratulations, Andrew.”
Jimmy and Daniel also share their thoughts on Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders and New York Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez unveiling their latest iteration of the Green New Deal. Listen to the podcast to hear everything they discussed!
