Fox News Political Analyst Gianno Caldwell joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share his thoughts on progressive Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson defeating his more moderate opponent, former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas, in Tuesday night’s Chicago mayoral race.
“This is a disgrace. And I don’t understand how residents of the city of Chicago even came to vote for him. I know that there was a lot of identity politics involved in this. He weaponized the black residents of Chicago against Paul Vallas, like Mayor Lori Lightfoot attempted to do, who wasn’t successful. But he said, hey, you got to vote for me. I’m the Black candidate. At this particular point, Brandon Johnson, if you’re listening, who gives a damn about what color you are? We just want to be safe. We want to be protected. We don’t want our taxes to go up. We want school choice, We want fiscal responsibility. And we want people to be able to have a great life. That’s what this is about. Public safety is a given. That’s what it’s supposed to be. As an American citizen in an American city, public safety is supposed to be something that you just get by living there. This isn’t a gift. This is what I should live as my life. I live in Miami, Florida. Do you think I’m concerned about somebody busting me upside the head and murdering me? I don’t have that inclination. I mean, I’m from Chicago, so I keep my head on the swivel, folks know what that means. I’m always looking around. But at the same time, there’s people who feel enormously safe here. You cannot say the same thing about Chicago at this time.”
Gianno also tells Jimmy why he does not expect crime levels to go down in Chicago during Johnson’s upcoming term. To hear what else he had to say, listen to the podcast!
