Tom Bevan: Democrats Have Mostly Refused To Talk About The Top Issue Of These Midterms

RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to talk about how in this election cycle, many Democratic candidates decided to run on issues that are not major priorities for voters.

What’s been shocking about this election is that, clearly the number one issue has been the economy and inflation. And Democrats have just refused to talk about it, refused to address it. I mean, absolutely running an entirely different campaign where they’re talking about the threat to democracy and abortion are their two main issues. I mean, all the ads across the country, there’s not a single Democratic one that’s being run on anything other than abortion. And it’s just one of those things, yes, it’s something that their voters care about. And if you look at the polling data, Democrats do think it’s in some instances the number one issue. But it is certainly not what Republicans think. But more to the point, it’s not where Independents are. And so they’re stuck with this strategy where they’re speaking only to their base and they’re not speaking very much to Independents. And so they look kind of out of touch on the number one issue for those voters. It’s just been a really weird cycle.”
