Steve Doocy: How The Recipes In The New ‘Simply Happy Cookbook’ Can Take The Stress Out Of Making Tasty Meals

Co-Anchor of “Fox and Friends” Steve Doocy joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to talk about some of the delicious recipes in his new cookbook, The Simply Happy Cookbook: 100-Plus Recipes to Take the Stress Out of Cooking.

“I have made it for the morning show. You’ve got to try this. It’s called the Lasagna Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I’m not kidding. The secret is the cheese. It’s not just mozzarella cheese. In our first cookbook, we did the recipe that my wife made me on our first date. And at the end of the first date, I said, you’re going to think I’m crazy, but someday we will be married. And she laughed. And then she said, that’s nice, you can leave. And 40 days later we were engaged and four months later we were married. So we have we figured out the cheese ratio of mozzarella to parm to ricotta. And so that is the cheese on the grilled cheese. And then you make a quick little lasagna meat sauce that you put inside, and then you butter the outside and then you grill them in a skillet, just as you would a grilled cheese. You know, you like a grilled cheese sandwich. You like lasagna, you like the lasagna noodles. But just imagine if the noodles were caramelized and butter toasted. You can’t eat it every day. It probably is not healthy for you. And when we invented it during the pandemic and my son- in-law who was quarantining with us said, I don’t think that sounds very good. And I made it for him and he goes, that’s the best sandwich I’ve ever had.”
