Sen. Cassidy Calls For “Operation Warp Speed” for American Energy Production
Oil executives from six of the nation’s largest energy companies are on Capitol Hill this week to field questions from lawmakers on the oil industry’s role in soaring gas prices. Their testimony comes amid record high gasoline prices and countless bipartisan accusations that the oil industry is engaged in price gouging. Chairman of the Senate Energy Subcommittee, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) joins to emphasize the need for an ‘Operation Warp Speed’ for American energy, why he believes the Biden administration has been lagging on developing energy sufficiency and how the U.S. can mitigate Russia weaponizing its oil supply.
At the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Kherson was one of the first major cities to be captured. English teacher Tyler Jacob is an American who was living there with his family when all of the chaos erupted. After boarding a bus with other foreigners attempting to flee the country, Jacob was detained by Russian troops. After spending ten days in a Russian jail, Tyler was released and is now safe at home in Minnesota. He joins the Rundown to discuss his detainment, what it was like being interrogated by Russian guards and how he was safely released.
