Trey Yingst Remembers FOX News Cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski In Touching Tribute

Listen To The Full Interview Below:

Trey Yingst, Fox News Foreign Correspondent joined the Guy Benson Show to reflect on his impactful reporting from the front lines of the Russian Ukraine war and to remember our fallen FOX news colleagues, cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian producer Oleksandra Kuvshynova (Shasha) who both were killed in attack outside Kyiv.

Yingst remembered FOX News Cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski saying,

“Another story and experience that Pierre and I share together, we were in Kabul after the Taliban took over in Afghanistan last year and we went to an amusement park together to talk to Afghan civilians who were now living under Taliban control. And while we were there, we interviewed a mother with her two kids, and the father had been killed in the blast at HQ at Kabul’s airport. And as we were conducting this interview, the mom told us that her daughter’s birthday was next week, but they couldn’t afford a cake for her and she started to cry. And so before we left, the amusement park pier stopped by the snack stand, and he said, I’ll take one of everything. And he went and he found this little girl and he gave her all of the snacks. And he said, How’s that for you? Happy birthday. And the look on the mother’s face, I’ll never forget because she was so thankful of this act of kindness. And it’s just one of countless examples that we heard celebrating his life of Pierre being kind to others and expecting nothing in return. And I think that allowed us access when we were working together that other people couldn’t get. He could make even the most dangerous men smile. He could make them laugh. There was another time in Afghanistan where we came across the infamous Haqqani network and this gunman was staying in the presidential palace that they had taken over in Kabul. And later in the day, I see him face time in someone. He gets off the phone and I said, Who is that? He’s like, Oh, that was one of the guys outside the Ministry of Defense earlier. I said one of the Haqqani Network fighters. And he said, yeah, yeah, he was showing me the presidential palace and well, it just gives you a sense of this guy could make anyone feel comfortable. And that’s exactly what you need on your team when you’re in the field.”

Yingst also remembered FOX News producer Oleksandra Kuvshynova (Sasha) saying,

“Twenty-four years old, an incredible young woman. She wanted to show the world what was happening to her country, and she lost her life doing that. And I think that. She is an example of the brave Ukrainian people who are staying behind, some of them are staying to fight. Others are staying to inform.”
