Christmas Time is here and you’ll forgive lawmakers, Capitol Hill aides and Congressional journalists for lacking tidings of comfort and joy.
They’re all too familiar with various phantasms depicting Christmas past, Christmas present and, yes, Christmas future on Capitol Hill.
Although it’s been said many times, many ways, December can be wretched in Congress.
The holidays on Capitol Hill are usually filled with Christmas Eve Day votes on Obamacare. Efforts to avert government shutdowns. Brawls over spending.
New Year’s gets ruined, too. The Senate began votes on New Year’s Day 2013 not long after the ball dropped.
This year’s Christmas festival involves a potential government shutdown on December 22nd unless there’s a deal on President Trump’s border wall.
Call that the nightmare BEFORE Christmas.
