Jeff Sessions is out at the Department of Justice. Fox’s Chad Pergram has more in today’s “Speaker’s Lobby”
I’m Chad Pergram with the Speaker’s Lobby.
It’s been long, strange trip for former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
A little more than two years ago, then-Republican Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions was candidate Trump’s most ardent supporter in the Senate. Sessions then left his safe Senate to become Attorney General. Once on the job, Mr. Trump frequently browbeat & belittled Sessions. And Sessions’s safe Senate seat flipped last year from Republican to Democratic control with the election of Democratic Alabama Senator Doug Jones.
Things haven’t ended up well for other key political figures who went to serve in President Trump’s cabinet or in other top administration posts. Former GOP Georgia Congressman Tom Price had to leave due to an ethics scandal. Price was once thought of as a candidate for Speaker or Majority Leader.
And former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus..had been Republican National Committee Chairman. From Wisconsin, Priebus had key allies like GOP Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and House Speaker Paul Ryan.
