Girl Scouts Getting with the Times, Offering New Badges

Girl Scouts are getting new badge options focused on science, tech and the outdoors.

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:

Engineering, math, science, technology and the outdoors, serious categories for Girl Scout badges, but they’re the basis for some serious fun too.

Girl Scouts will have a chance to earn 23 new badges through activities like programming robots, designing model race cars and writing code.

The group’s CEO, Sylvia Acevedo, a former Scout, took over in May, and was previously an engineer and worked for NASA, as well as IBM and Dell.

The new STEM badges come a month after the group added cyber-security badges.
