Congressional Staffer Zack Barth Thanks Actions Taken by Capitol Police During Shooting

President Trump is commending the Capitol Police officers who took down a gunman who opened fire on a baseball field, where members of Congress were practicing for a charity baseball game.

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

Congressional staffer Zack Barth says he may have died if not for the actions of the Capitol Police. He described what happened in vivid detail:

(Barth) “I see him turn his gun towards me and it just starts popping all around me, and he hits me in the leg.”

Barth said he piled into a dugout with Congressmen, used his phone to text for help and prayed. The Vice President stopped by the hospital check on Congressman Scalise and he met with Officer Griner, who was also injured in the attack.

The fourth victim, lobbyist Matt Mika, is still in critical condition.
