ICE Officials Say Round Up of Gang Members Has Been a Success

Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say an initiative to round up violent gang members nationwide is making progress.

    FOX’s Gurnal Scott reports:

The enforcement was a six-week operation to make streets safer from gang violence. Acting ICE director Thomas Homan says the numbers show success:

(Homan) “A total of 1,378 individuals were arrested.”

All members of gangs that Homan calls the biggest threat to America’s communities. Associate director Derrick Benner says the operation goes beyond arrests and prosecutions:

(Benner) “Imprison and deport and remove trans-national gang members as well as to suppress violence and prosecute criminal enterprises.”

Acting director Homan calls the ongoing operation one of ICE’s highest priorities.
