Rolling Stones Drummer Takes on Jazz with Big Band Record

A different adventure for one of the members of The Rolling Stones.

FOX’s Laura Ingle reports:

Just when Rolling Stones fans thought they had heard all renditions of ‘Satisfaction’, a Jazzy version of the classic tune will be released April 21 by the band’s own drummer Charlie Watts.

The song was recorded seven years ago. Watts teamed up with Danish Radio Big Band and made the live recording in 2010 after just four rehearsals. The LP features standards originals and Rolling Stones covers and is appropriately titled ‘Charlie Watts Meets the Danish Radio Big Band’.

Fans of the British drummer know that Watts has been a lifelong Jazz fan and that he got his start converting an old banjo with a skin covering into a snare drum.

The seven-track LP will also feature Jazz renditions of ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ and ‘Paint It Black’.
