Homeland Security Sec. Encourages Hiring of 15,000 More Officers & Ending “Catch-and-Release” Policies
The White house says they will start aggressively deporting illegal immigrants with criminal records.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly has directed his agency heads to hire 15,000 more officers, end so-called “catch-and-release” policies at the U.S.-Mexico border and begin work on the President’s promised border wall with Mexico.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer says the new immigration rules will be implemented immediately:
(Spicer) “Those people who are in this country and pose a threat to public safety or have committed a crime will be the first to go and we will be aggressively making sure that occurs.”
Meanwhile, the White House continues its work on writing a second executive order on immigration, after the first one was blocked nationwide by the federal courts.
