Rep. Jason Chaffetz On Senator McCain Saying President Trump Wants To Stifle The Press: I Didn’t See John McCain Complain When President Obama Pursued Policies That Would Have Curbed The Press

“That’s a little bit over the top that President Trump has tied to put any sort of legislation in place to curb the press. I did see Barack Obama pursue some policies and legislation that would have curbed the press. I didn’t see John McCain flailing about that. I don’t know where he is coming sometimes. He is a great patriot and he served his country but nobody said there wasn’t going to be a free press.”

—Rep. Chaffetz on Senator McCain in Munich saying he is worried President Trump is trying to curb the press

Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) joined Kilmeade & Friends to discuss Senator John McCain comparing President Trump’s handling of the press to a dictatorship and Senator Lindsey Graham blaming republicans in the House & Senate for the dysfunction in furthering the republican agenda. Rep. Chaffetz on Senator Graham blaming republicans in the House & Senate for not getting their act together

(Kilmeade) Is he overstating it or are you guys having problems?

(Chaffetz) Yeah, I think he is overstating it and he is one of those republicans. If he has ideas and suggestions, rather than just keep firing away and saying hey, we have problems, he too should offer some solutions. So I think there is a lot of commitment and uniformity particularly in the House on repealing and replacing Obamacare as well as a tax plan we are very, very excited about. We campaigned on it and I expect it to get passed.

(Chaffetz) That’s a little bit over the top that President Trump has tied to put any sort of legislation in place to curb the press. I did see Barack Obama pursue some policies and legislation that would have curbed the press. I didn’t see John McCain flailing about that. I don’t know where he is coming sometimes. He is a great patriot and he served his country but nobody said there wasn’t going to be a free press. What I do see is President Trump expanding that pool and allowing more people to participate in that and I think he has called out some of the bull that you see and read in the newspaper. I have experienced that on almost a daily basis.
