Dr. Ben Carson testifying in front of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Development Committee.
FOX's Jon Decker has the latest from the hearing:
Carson, the renowned neurosurgeon, argued that although he has no government experience, he is ready, able and qualified to serve as the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:
(Carson) "I want to hear from the people with boots on the ground who are actually administering the programs, who are befitting from the programs."
Some Democrats on the Senate Banking committee have questioned Carson's qualifications to lead HUD, which is charged with helping millions of poor Americans secure affordable housing.
At the White House, Jon Decker, FOX News.
