Dr. Ben Carson Removes Himself from Mr. Trump’s Cabinet Consideration
One prominent Republican has taken himself out of the running for serving as a member of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
Dr. Ben Carson, who ran for the Republican Presidential nomination and later endorsed Donald Trump, has told the President-elect that he is not interested in a position in his Cabinet. Carson had been mentioned as a possible Secretary of Health and Human Services or Secretary of Education.
Meanwhile, former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani is seen as the top choice to be Mr. Trump’s Secretary of State. Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is the leading candidate to be Secretary of Defense. And retired General Michael Flynn appears to have the inside track to be National Security Advisor.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Trump supporter throughout the campaign, has said that he has no interest of returning to government.
