Volkswagen Consumers & Regulators Reach Deal over Emissions Scandal

Federal regulators and Volkswagen have come to an agreement which could benefit many customers who were duped in the company’s widespread emissions scandal.

    FOX’s Jeff Monosso has more:

A federal judge has signed off on a deal between Volkswagen, federal regulators and owners, totalling $16.2 billion in fines.

Owner and dealer compensation and buying back emissions cheating 2-liter diesels after Volkswagen was caught in 2015 and later admitted to using the so-called defeat devices to cheat on emissions.

Volkswagen could also be allowed to repair the vehicles though a fix has yet to be approved. VW also faces billions more in costs and fines to address polluting 3-liter vehicles and lawsuits as well as fallout over the scandal in other countries.
