Washington Monument Remains Closed
A national treasure in Washington, D.C. is closed and it’s going to stay that way for a while.
FOX’s Jill Nado reports:
The Washington Monument’s been plagued by elevator problems over the past two years and now the National Park Service is hanging up the “closed” sign on the icon for now.
They’ve got a budget of $3 million to get that elevator fixed, but the process is supposed to take up to nine months to finish. The current elevator works, sometimes, but it’s broken down frequently, and when it does, people are often stuck inside anywhere from 40 minutes up to three hours.
