Zika Virus Causes Death of Texas Baby

Another unwelcome first in the fight against Zika in the U.S., as an infant’s death in Texas is linked to the virus.

    FOX’s Eben Brown reports:

A baby girl born in Houston, had birth defects of the brain and skull, the kind linked to the Zika virus, that little girl didn’t survive.

Doctor Umair Shah is the health department director in Harris County, Texas:

(Dr. Shah) “This was a child who was born to a mother who was in a Zika affected area in Latin America.”

The mother relocated to Texas while in her second trimester. In addition to those birth defects, the baby tested positive for the virus as well.
