It was a first for Major League Baseball, a special game to mark the 4th of July.

An historic baseball game between the Atlanta Braves and the Miami Marlins Sunday played at Ft. Bragg North Carolina.
The first time any major professional sporting event has been played at a U.S. Military Base. Lt. General Stephen J. Townsend is Fort's Bragg's Commander tells ESPN its perfect for Independence Day weekend:
(Townsend) "We are America's rapid response force here at Ft. Bragg, Airborne and Special Operations forces and this is America's favorite pastime. I can't think of a better of combination of things to come together."
It cost about $5 million to make the playing field on an old driving range. Major League Baseball and the Players Association picking up the tab.
The Marlins winning 5-2.
