Ex-Student Hit with Life in Prison for Killing Baby
It’s life in prison without parole for a former college student who was convicted of killing her newborn baby in a sorority house.
FOX’s Gary Baumgarten reports:
21-year-old Emile Weaver says she will appeal the sentencing, saying she was in denial about her pregnancy when she killed her baby after giving birth in a bathroom at the sorority house at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio.
Prosecutors say that she disposed of the newborn in a trash bag. The baby girl dying from asphyxiation. Weaver testified she thought the baby was already dead when she did it.
Ohio has a safe haven law, meaning she could have dropped the baby off at the nearby campus police station and have faced no charges.
