Joaquina Kalukango & the cast of ‘The Color Purple’ Set to Perform on Tony’s
Joaquina Kalukango will be performing with her castmates on Sunday night’s Awards show broadcast on CBS. She talks with FOX’s Jane Metzler about launching the hit revival with stars Cynthia Erivo, Jennifer Hudson and her fellow Julliard graduate and best friend, Danielle Brooks (Taystee from TV’s Orange is the New Black). Kalukango also discusses opportunities for African American actresses, how her Angolan refugee parents reacted to her acting ambitions and who helped her ace her audition for “The Color Purple.”
