Guns and Gowns… Miss USA Can Handle Both

Miss USA 2016 is the first in history to be a member of the military.

FOX’s Laura Ingle reports:

Deshauna Barber, Miss USA 2016, is the first American soldier to ever win the crown:

(Barber) “It’s crazy, it’s so surreal.”

The 26-year-old spoke with me about her military background:

(Barber) “I come from a military family. My father, mother, sister, brother, are all Army.”

Barber is commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in the Army:

(Barber) “The Army is still going to continue, I’m obligated to eight years total. I’ve done five so far, so I’ll still be drilling.”

In her interview segment during the pageant, Barber was asked about how she felt about woman being integrated into the military:

(Barber) “I did say that woman are strong, woman are more than capable and I appreciate the fact that the government did make that step, that we should not allow gender to limit us, that we’re capable of doing anything.”

Deshauna Barber, Army soldier, daughter, sister, proud American and our Miss USA 2016.
