House Speaker Paul Ryan Says He’ll Give Up the Gavel at RNC if Donald Trump Asks Him To
There could be a change in leadership at the Republican National Convention.

House Speaker Paul Ryan will give up the gavel at the Republican National Convention this summer if presumptive nominee Donald Trump asks him to.
Ryan made those comments to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper. The Speaker’s office confirms the exchange.
Trump has been critical of Ryan for the Speaker’s refusal to so far endorse Trump. Ryan says he still has questions about the businessman’s conservative credentials.
The two are scheduled to meet here on the Hill Thursday morning, along with other House Republican leaders.
