Johnson & Johnson Loses Another Lawsuit Over Talcum Powder

Johnson & Johnson has lost another lawsuit over its talcum powder, and more lawsuits are looming.

    FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports:

A St. Louis jury has ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay $55 million in damages to a South Dakota woman who claimed the company’s talcum powder caused her ovarian cancer. It’s the second lawsuit Johnson & Johnson has lost this year over its product.

The family of an Alabama woman who died of the disease won $72 million in February. Her son, Marvin Salter, said he wanted to warn other women:

(Salter) ”The whole fight was not just for her, but for so many other women.”

Johnson & Johnson is appealing the latest case. And in a statement, says talc is safe for use in cosmetic products.

The American Cancer Society says it’s not clear whether talc increases the risk of cancer.
