The two remaining rivals of the Republican frontrunner have teamed up in the fight over delegates in the 2016 presidential race.

FOX's Tonya J. Powers has more:

Governor John Kasich says he will now be openly cooperating with Senator Ted Cruz's campaign to keep Donald Trump from getting the GOP presidential nomination.

Kasich says its a misconception that there are rules that would shut out a candidate in an open convention:

(Kasich) "Even if there were those kinds of rules, you could be nominated from the floor of the convention. Look, we're going to an open convention."

The Trump campaign released a statement early this morning calling the alliance a "horrible act of desperation":

(Trump) "You know, once I defeat them I like every one of them, while I'm fighting them I don't."

Five states will cast primary votes on Tuesday: Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Trump leads recent polling in each of those.
