Arizona Corrections Officials Fire 13 Officers after Two Inmate Suicides

Several corrections officers have been fired or punished in Arizona after two inmate suicides.

    FOX’s Jessica Rosenthal reports:

After investigating two inmate suicides, Arizona corrections officials say they are firing 13 officers and disciplining six other employees.

The Corrections Director said in a statement that their investigation showed troubling instances of neglect and other serious misconduct, including falsifying records and leaving duty posts without authorization.

This is after a female inmate committed suicide last year and a male inmate this year. Two years ago the Department of Corrections, ACLU and prison law office reached a settlement after corrections officials agreed to fix several issues relating to medical and mental health care for inmates.
