Maria Sharapova Failed a Drug Test at Australian Open

A shock announcement from a tennis star.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig has the details:

Former World Tennis No.1 Maria Sharapova announcing that she failed a drug test at this year’s Australian Open.

Sharapova tested positive for meldonium, which she says she’s taken for the past ten years:

(Sharapova) “I was getting sick a lot. I was getting the flu every couple of months. I had regular EKG results, as well as indications of diabetes with a family history of diabetes.”

The drug was only added to the banned substance list on January 1 of this year. No word yet on what penalties Sharapova will face.
