Iran President Hopes for More Fair and Free Elections
Iran’s President wants more fair and free elections.
FOX’s Jessica Golloher has the details:
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says moderate and reformist political factions should be allowed to run in next month’s parliamentary elections.
In a speech broadcast on state television, Rouhani saying the parliament is the house of the people, not a particular faction.
Rhouhani pledged to bring about reforms when he came into office, adding elections are pointless if there are no competitors.
The barring of moderates and reformists is seen as a move by hardliners who are worried that Rhouhani’s success with a landmark deal over Tehran’s nuclear program will increase the chances of moderates at the polls.
