Republicans Tap South Carolina Governor to Counter President’s Final State of the Union Address
Republicans tap South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to deliver the party’s response to next week’s State of the Union address.
FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:
Nikki Haley is already being named as a potential running mate for whoever captures the Republican nomination. The South Carolina Governor will serve as the GOP messenger next week, delivering the party’s official response to President Obama’s final State of the Union address.
Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, is the first minority and first woman to lead South Carolina.
Last year in the aftermath of the Charleston church shooting, Haley successfully lobbied lawmakers to remove the Confederate battle flag from the state Capitol.
