South Africa Lion Hunting to Feature New U.S. Restrictions

New rules for those who wish to hunt the ‘King of the Jungle’.

    Fox’s Kerin McCue reports:

African lions are an endangered species. In an effort to protect them, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is putting into place some new restrictions. The Humane Society International says these new provisions are aimed at discouraging American hunters from pursuing the beasts for sport in South Africa.

They say most lion trophies brought back here come from there and from animals that are bred in captivity and hunted in confined areas.

A spokesperson for the International Fund for Animal Welfare-Africa admits trophy hunting is common in the region, however they’re concerned about abuses of captive breeding practices.
