New Trial Set for Officer William Porter in Freddie Gray Case
A Baltimore police officer will stand trial for a second time in the death of Freddie Gray.
FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports:
The first trial of Officer William Porter ended in a hung jury last week… The prosecution and defense team conferenced with Judge Barry Williams and set a new trial for June 13.
Officer Porter faced manslaughter, misconduct, and other charges after Freddie Gray suffered a catastrophic neck injury in a police van last spring. He died a week later, prompting violent protests in Baltimore.
There were some small protests after the mistrial was announced. Five other officers have also pleaded not guilty in the Gray case and will stand trial separately.
