St. Louis Church Fires Suspect Is Under Arrest
An arrest made in a string of church fires around St. Louis.
FOX News Radio’s Lisa Brady reports:
So far the suspect, 35-year-old David Jackson, is charged in two fires… Gasoline used in both.
(Dotson) “Surveillance footage shows the defendants car in the scene of the fire at the New Life Missionary Baptist Church, the defendant has confirmed that the car belongs to him.”
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson says they found a gas container and a thermos that smelled like gas in the car.
(Dotson) “There are still fires that we are in the process of investigating and hopefully more charges will be coming.”
Seven fires in all in St. Louis and nearby Jennings… Five of the churches are predominantly black, one mostly white, one racially mixed. The suspect is black and Federal investigators now say there’s no indication of a hate crime, so the motive remains a mystery.
