SC Deputy Who Tossed Student Is Fired
Sheriff Deputy Ben Fields who dragged a student across the floor in a videotaped confrontation at a South Carolina High School is now out of a job.
FOX News Radio’s Gurnal Scott has more:
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said despite support for Ben Fields from the teacher, administrator, and students in the room… He had to relieve Fields of duty.
Lott says he became disturbed with now former Deputy Fields’ actions the moment video showed him flipping the student.
(Lott) “That’s what’s caused me my heartburn and my issues with this. The maneuver that he used was not based on the training or acceptable.”
Lott did refer to the student as “disruptive” ultimately provoking the confrontation. The FBI and U.S. Justice Department are continuing their look into the incident.
