NFL Goes Gold
Did you watch the NFL’s opening weekend of preseason games and wonder, like many on social media, why the ’50’ at midfield was painted gold?
FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig explains the reason why:
The 50th anniversary is the Golden Anniversary, so the NFL is celebrating the 50th Super Bowl with all things gold… The number 50 and NFL shield logo at midfield will be gold all season, just the start of a league-wide celebration.
(Warner) “Memorabilia that you can buy, to logos, to the draft, to the Super Bowl trophy, to the big ’50’ that all the players will get that win the next Super Bowl.”
Super Bowl XXXIV MVP Kurt Warner explained some of the plans at the league’s annual meeting.
Sideline apparel and Pro Bowl uniforms will have gold trim, and the league is dropping the Roman numerals for the big game.
Super Bowl 50 will be played February 7th at Levi Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
