Bat Boy, 9, Dies After Being Struck By Bat

A bat boy hit in the head during a baseball game in Kansas has died.

FOX News Radio’s Steve Rappoport reports:

Nine-year-old Kaiser Carlile was struck by a follow-through swing near the on deck circle during Saturday’s National Baseball Congress World Series game in Wichita. EMTs at the ballpark were tending to Janice Van Dyke when the accident occurred.

(Van Dyke) “The one lady that was working on me finished working on me while the other one grabbed her defibrillator and her oxygen and ran off.”

The Liberal Bee Jays bat boy wore a helmet but it wasn’t enough to save him. Kaiser’s family attended last night’s game and wanted the team to keep going. The Bee Jays played their hearts out for Kaiser, winning 8-0.
