Politics At The Border
Along the U.S.-Mexico border, where immigration reform is at the center of everyday life, Donald Trump’s visit was met with mixed emotions.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from Laredo, Texas:
The city’s Mayor Pete Saenz welcomed the billionaire Republican front-runner, thankful Donald Trump was bringing attention to this city where so much trade comes and goes.
(Saenz) “We need to secure the border. But we also need other elements.”
Saenz, a Democrat in a city made up of a nearly 95% Latino population, supports comprehensive immigration reform. And the County’s Republican party chairman says most immigrants crossing the border here are looking for work.
(Blair) “By the time they get to this area, they’re very desperate. They’re in terrible physical condition.”
A perspective Randy Blair hopes other Presidential candidates learn, by also making visits.
