Ashton Carter Sworn In As Defense Secretary
The new Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter reporting for duty.
FOX News Radio’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:
Vice President Biden swore in Ashton Carter to be the nation’s 25th Secretary of Defense.
(Carter/Biden) “…the duties of the office…//On which I’m about to enter…//On which I’m about to enter…//So help me God.//So help me God.//…Mr. Secretary…”
Carter, who was confirmed 93-5 in the Senate, replaces Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary. He takes his post as Congress considers a number of pressing defense issues, including a request by the President that would formally authorize military action against ISIS.
