This Year’s Daytona 500 Grand Marshal Is…
The countdown to the 57th running of the Daytona 500, now just less than two weeks away… Mike Helton gets a new title, Jeb Burton gets a new ride and a famous face is named this year’s Daytona 500 grand marshal.
FOX News Radio’s Marghiee Teshineh reports in “FOX in the Fast Lane”:
The NASCAR Sprint Cup season begins with the Daytona 500 in February, but I asked Daytona’s track President Joie Chitwood if he’d like to see the Great American Race move to later in the season. Chitwood said no because…
(Chitwood) “I love the fact that we start off with our biggest event, it creates so much energy and enthusiasm for the rest of the season.”
Truck series driver Jeb Burton signs with BK Racing to drive the number 26 car in the Sprint Cup Series, just weeks after his Truck team lost its sponsor. Burton, with only Truck and XFinity series race experience, says it’s daunting to make the jump to Cup racing:
(Burton) “It’s a week before Daytona and we just got the seat in the car. So it’s going to be tough, but look forward to it and I feel like we can do a good job.”
NASCAR promotes President Mike Helton to Vice Chairman, making him the senior NASCAR official at all national series racing events overseeing competition.
And actor Vince Vaughn, will serve as this year’s Daytona 500 grand marshal.
