Supreme Court Denies Appeal From Photographers Who Refused Same-Sex Ceremony
Appeal denied. The U.S. Supreme Court won’t take up a case pitting a non-discrimination law against religious rights.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:
New Mexico’s Supreme Court says Elane Photography violated the state’s anti-discrimination law when the company refused to do service for a commitment ceremony for a same-sex couple.
The studio’s owner challenged that, arguing taking photos at the event violates her religious beliefs and argued the First Amendment protects her right to choose what to photograph and more importantly what not to photograph.
It’s an argument the U.S. Supreme Court will not hear, denying an appeal and leaving in place New Mexico’s ruling.
