If you want to salvage roadkill for food, Montana has greenlighted some new rules allowing drivers to easily do it.

FOX News Radio’s Lilian Woo explains:

Starting this month in Montana, this– (car crash sound) could be the sound of dinner to some people. The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission has approved regulations allowing drivers who accidentally kill big game to simply print out permits at home, allowing them to harvest the meat and they’re working toward an app on that. The original plan had people presenting the carcass to law enforcement in person. The move intended to address people’s concerns about wasted game on the roadway. But some critics wondering whether drivers would intentionally gun their engines when they saw an animal on the road. Officials say they’ll be on the lookout for abuse and for people who try to use permits to disguise poaching.
