School officials outside Fort Lauderdale are waiting to see if any students show up today at one elementary school where Norovirus has sent hundreds of children home and forced officials to thoroughly sanitize the building.

FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown reports from Miami:

Manatee Bay elementary in Weston, Florida barely had any students show up last week.

“I heard that there’s 300 kids out, sick.”

Eighty-eight kids were still out Wednesday. Robert Runcie is the Superintendent.

Runcie: “That was a result of what we now know as uh, some virus.”

Health officials say it’s Norovirus, like you hear about on cruise ships. This father’s daughter has it.

Parent: “She was having nausea and vomiting and severe belly ache.”

School officials say they’ve scrubbed everything down and are making kids eat lunch in classrooms, not the cafeteria.
