Savor Summer With Seasonal Treats

    Ice Cream

Savor the last days of summer with two favorites of the season.

FOX News Radio’s Lilian Woo reports:

There’s really nothing quite like enjoying things at their peak in-season like ripe fruit and ice cream.

(Schimoler) “We’re right in the peak of blueberry season here in Vermont so there’s nothing better than some fresh blueberry ice cream.”

Kirsten Schimoler flavor guru behind Ben and Jerry’s latest Greek frozen yogurt flavors says you can actually take any berry or other ripe fruit, macerate, which means sprinkling sugar and/or a splash of liquid such as juice or liquor, leaving for a covered in the fridge for few hours to amp up the flavor of the fruit and blending into an ice cream base — commonly eggs, heavy or whipping cream, sugar and milk. Transfer mixture to an ice cream machine and freeze according to instructions, making sure to get the bowl of the ice cream maker cold enough or your ice cream won’t freeze.
