U.S. F-16 Shipment To Egypt Delayed

    F-16

Egypt will have to wait for new fighter jets from the U.S.

FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson explains from Washington:

Four F-16 fighter jets were supposed to be delivered to Egypt in the coming days. But Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel broke the news to Egypt’s Defense Minister: the delivery is off until further notice.

Pentagon spokesman George Little says, considering the recent events in Egypt, it’s not appropriate to close the deal at this time.Little would not say that the delay constitutes the U.S. deciding that a coup has occurred in Egypt.

Officially calling the ousting of President Mohammed Morsi a coup would make it illegal for the U.S. to give Egypt any military hardware.
