Army Investigates Radiation Exposure At Fort Bliss
A possible radiation hazard being investigated at an Army post in Texas.
FOX News Radio’s Lilian Woo reports:
Some 30 people are being tested for exposure after Army investigators detect radiation at a former nuclear weapons bunker at Fort Bliss in Texas.
Post leaders say contaminated residue was buried in the 50’s and 60’s when the base was operated by the Air Force.
The affected bunkers used to store weaponry used by soldiers preparing for deployment. It’s not believed any radiation transferred to the equipment they used.
A Fort Bliss spokesman saying the radiation level are low and the contamination is at least a mile and a half from residential neighborhoods.
