Silent Protests Standing In Turkey
There’s a new form of peaceful resistance in Turkey after weeks of deadly demonstrations and it’s even been
given the nod of approval by the government.
FOX News Radio’s Emily Wither explains:
It’s a very different sound to the fierce fighting in Turkey between police and protesters…
…Silence!
Thousands of protesters across the country are standing in silence for hours on end inspired by a man who did just that for eight hours in Istanbul’s Taksim Square – he became a hit on social media and has inspired others.
The country’s deputy Prime Minister, who a few days ago threatened to call in the military, said the new protests were peaceful and pleasing to the eye as long as it didn’t stop traffic. Police are now allowing people to stand silently.
